Police are trying to figure out what caused a man to lose control of his car causing the death of a utility worker. According to KSL news, the driver was headed south on State Street in Roosevelt, Utah when his car crossed the center line near 1800 South. The car then left the road hitting a fence and slamming into a worker who was marking telephone wiring boxes. This Utah accident happened on November 11, 2009.

The utility worker was taken to the hospital where he passed away. Roosevelt police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor but they are looking into the driver’s history to see if he is prone to seizures. I offer my sincere condolences to family of this man who passed away.

This article leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Was there a mechanical problem with the car, was the driver distracted, was he perhaps texting while driving? It sounds like the man who hit this innocent victim may not have been forthright in his cooperation with the Roosevelt police. The driver, of all people, should know best why this unfortunate accident happened. I would recommend that the family hire an accident and injury lawyer to get to the bottom of why this crash happened and exploring all the legal remedies which may include tapping into the employer’s “under-insured” coverage (after collecting insurance limits from the at-fault driver) which is likely to be at least one million (if it is a non-governmental entitity).
