Police in Lafayette, New York, have reported that Syracuse University student, Rachel Pigott from Utah, was seriously injured when she rolled her SUV and was ejected from the vehicle. This accident happened on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. According to 9wsyr.com, Rachel got caught in the snow along the side of the road and lost control of her SUV, causing it to roll several times. The crash happened at around 8:45 in the morning on Lafayette Road, near Reidy Hill Road in Lafayette, New York.
Investigators say Pigott may have been driving too fast for the hazardous conditions. She was taken to University Hospital in serious condition. Police officers report that she was very lucky that she didn’t hit her head on th pavement when she was thrown out of the vehicle.
I wish Rachel the very best as she fights to recover. From looking at the video of the accident, it looks like most of the impact to the vehicle came on the driver side. How fortunate her head didn’t take the brunt of the impact, because almost always the results in these situations are fatal.
