West Valley Hit and Run Leaves Man in Critical Condition
Posted By Ron Kramer on October 27, 2009
A small fender-bender became violent when one man ran over the other man while he was standing in the street. The incident started at the light of 4700 South and Bangerter Highway around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October, 27, 2009. According to police and KSL news, Ron Torres ran into the back of another man’s stopped vehicle. West Valley police officer Lt. Bill Merritt said, “The victim then got out of his car to look to see what the damage was, and was unfortunately run over by the suspect, who was fleeing the scene.”
A county deputy witnessed the accident and attempted to follow Torres, but eventually lost him.
Later on that evening Torres called his car in as stolen but officers found it in the parking lot of his apartment. Torres was confronted but denied any wrong doing. Police continued to question him and he eventually confessed to what happened. He said he was scared, didn’t have a license and didn’t want to get into trouble so he ran.

The man who was hit was taken to the hospital after the accident. Injuries at the accident scene did not seem severe but once at the hospital he had to be rushed into surgery where he remains in critical condition. Police are not sure if he is going to survive. Please remember to keep him in your prayers as the victim of this car accident fights to stay alive.
Obviously the victim in this case has a legal claim against this hit and run driver. Things will be much more serious for Mr. Torres given his decision to flee the scene of a crash, especially when he knew that he had injured someone. I would recommend that the victim contact a Utah accident and injury lawyer to make this guy understand that he can’t drive the way he did without consequences.
