Two Police Cars Hit by Trucks in Utah Auto Accidents
Posted By Ron Kramer on October 29, 2009
Two tractor-trailers hit police cars in separate accidents on Interstate 15 in Iron County, Utah. The accidents occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2009 while Highway Patrol officers were warning drivers to be careful of wintery roads.
The first Utah auto accident happened at 9 a.m. when a tractor-trailer hit an Iron County police officers car as he was stopped on the side of the road responding to an accident. Fortunately, the officer was not in the car so he was not injured.
The second accident happened a short time later at around 10:45 am when a Utah Highway Patrol trooper responded to a different accident near Beaver County, Utah. Her car was also hit by a semi-truck. The officer was outside of the car and had to run down and embankment to avoid the truck. The semi left the scene but was pulled over a few miles down the road. The driver claims he didn’t know he had hit anything. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Iron County, Utah roads had seen heavy snow since Tuesday night and driving conditions were difficult.
As winter comes, snowy and icy roads make driving very difficult. Expect traffic speed to decrease, a longer commute to work and a higher risk of accident. Allow yourself more time to commute so you will not be tempted to speed.
